Welcome to learning at the gallery. We support students of all ages to learn about art and develop their creativity. Our learning sessions are developed with an immersive, interactive and accessible focus, starting with solid cross-curriculum links to our collection or temporary exhibitions.

All facilitated sessions have a creative outcome that aims to develop students’ skills and confidence with a piece they can take back to class or home. You will see cool contemporary art and beautiful old paintings and objects and engage with the fascinating stories of artists and their artworks. These link directly to cross-curricular learning.

Learning Outside The Classroom Quality Mark

Free School Visits

Heritage and culture should be available to all. To make our school visits even more accessible, we are offering free visits and learning sessions to schools across the UK where 30% or more of pupils receive free school meals.

To be eligible for the fund, schools must be a state funded primary, secondary, or special school or unit. Schools must demonstrate that they are a state funded primary, secondary, or special school and have 30% or more of children in receipt of free school meals (FSM). The fund covers the cost for general admission as well as a facilitated teaching session.

Proof is not required of 30% threshold on booking but spot checks will take place and invoices will be issued if the eligibility criteria is not met.
