10 October 2015  - 3 January 2016

This exhibition sees one of our most acclaimed artists collaborating with 32 writers from a diverse range of backgrounds. After they contributed texts on their favourite places, the artist visited each location to create the artworks for the show. The exhibition and accompanying book reveal the diversity of the British landscape, whilst providing an insight into the concept of ‘place’ – that collective sense of identity, meaning, longing and nostalgia present within the British psyche.

This exhibition ‘Place’ will feature the resulting body of work of varying scale from postcard size to massive canvases, Jackson’s responses to the thirty three locations, each represented by up to three pieces.

These locations include: islands and mountains, Spaghetti Junction, suburbs, beaches, hill forts, docks, a golf course, forests, the Thames, Paddington Station, a Welsh estuary. A spectrum of landscape from urban cityscapes to rural wildernesses via edgelands and the suburbs of contemporary Britain.

Supplementing the Place exhibition, a group of smaller paintings of Glastonbury Festival will be for sale in aid of Greenpeace.
