Bath Society of Artists'
Exhibition
31 March – 19 May. The annual exhibition, which is
open to non-members, attracts about 1,000 entries and over 14,000
visitors, with sales doubling in the last few years. Prizes include
the Victoria Prize of £2,000 for the best work in the exhibition
and a Young Artist’s Prize of £250. A Public Choice Prize of £500
is awarded at the end of the exhibition to the artist achieving the
highest number of votes. All works in the exhibition are for
sale.

Sculpture and Sport: a celebration
for 2012 26 May – 1 July. To
celebrate the London Olympics, this exhibition will display an
inspired collection of bronze sculptures of 30 different Olympic
and Paralympic sports by 30 British sculptors. Money raised from
sales will be used to help disadvantaged and disabled young
people.

Richard Burel: Bath Markets and
Festivals
26 May – 1 July. Richard
Burel was born in Rouen, France in 1974 and has been living
at Bradford-on-Avon near Bath since 2000. The pictures in this
exhibition were inspired by visiting festivals and markets in and
around Bath. All the work is for sale.

Coming soon to the Victoria Art Gallery...
Graham Dean: Faster, Higher,
Stronger
7 July – 2 September. Graham Dean makes a timely and
colourful return to Bath with this show of huge watercolours on
handmade Indian paper. Over the last year he visited Olympic and
Paralympic training camps to make small studies of athletes. These
were converted in the studio into large scale exhibition
pieces.

Not far away.... SPORT
AND FASHION at the Fashion Museum The catsuit
that Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams wore at the Vancouver
Winter Olympics in 2010 is on display at the
Fashion Museum in a new exhibition SPORT and
FASHION, continuing until the end of the year. Designs by
Stella McCartney for the official Olympics kit for 2012 are
also on display.

Not far away..... World
Heritage Day
22 April 11am-4.00pm. Royal Victoria Park. Celebrate Bath’s 25th
anniversary of becoming a World Heritage Site. The Ermine Street
Guard will be setting up a parade ground; there will be
guided tours by Bath Preservation Trust and stone carving
demonstrations.
