Helen Garrett

Helen Garrett, The House on the
Hill
24 November 2007 - 13 January 2008
The fourteen paintings in this selling exhibition radiate
glowing colours and are built up in layers creating richly textured
surfaces. Helen Garrett paints to create a space for contemplation,
exploring the idea of a sense of belonging, and our place in a
wider universe.
Jon Benington, Manager of the Gallery, said: “Helen’s paintings
tackle subjects we feel but cannot see. Her inner landscapes graft
an interior world onto natural shapes and forms. We are delighted
to welcome Helen back to the Victoria Art Gallery.”
Helen Garrett graduated from the University of the West of
England in 1999. Still in her thirties, she is already much sought
after and has exhibited regularly at venues such as the Royal West
of England Academy, Park View Fine Paintings and the Adam Gallery.
This is her eighth solo exhibition to date and her second in a
public gallery.
