Recent donations of glass on display in the Upper
Gallery
This wonderful array of coloured glass was all acquired last
year through the generosity of a husband and wife. The
drinking glasses belonged to Derek Manning and his wife, Valerie,
collected the scent bottles. Both collections came to us via The
Art Fund.
The 110 scent bottles are being displayed in their entirety for
the first time and most of the 270 drinking glasses are exhibited
here too.
These two collections have made 2011 a bumper year.
Last year the Victoria Art Gallery acquired more museum objects
than in any other 12 month period in the last 70 years.
